The Carnegie Stark-Porter is, without a doubt, one of the better beers of our evening. It pours a dark and viscous pour, and contains an aroma of coffee and nuts. Tasting the beer is also a pleasure. It has a generally nutty flavor with coffee hints, as the aroma suggests, however it seems to hit you intermittently with a myriad of flavors as you go from initial taste to aftertaste. While this is certainly the most interesting beer of the evening, I would give it one demerit because I don’t think it would treat well as a session beer. For this reason, the Carnegie Porter will be a tie with the Rogue Soba Ale for my favorite of the tasting.
