This is my first offering from Alesmith, and is a mixed bag for me. The color is dark, cloudy, and very pleasing. The aroma is neither offensive nor sublime. The taste is quite complex – beginning with a malty dullness at the front of the mouth, it opens to a fruity sweetness through the mouth, and finishes with a bizarre explosion of various flavors, including figs and perhaps some cherry, at the back of the mouth. Very difficult to characterize, but quite enjoyable. This is a great beer, but can’t take a blue ribbon from me due to the lack of any single distinguishable characteristic that I desire
