Sevenpack has been a member of the BOMC for a whole year now and have been privy to some interesting and, for the most part, very good beers. It has served us well over the past 12 months, far exceeding any expectations I had for their product. We thank the good folks at BOMC for sending us the beers and hope our reviews have fared favorably for them. The first of the “final four” is the Indian River Shoal Draft, a pale ale produced in Melbourne, FL.
I could have sworn we had reviewed some Indian River brews but turns out this is the first. This beer has a golden hue and is crystal clear. It looks quite refreshing in the glass. The smell is a combination of hops, nuts and cornmeal. The taste is much stronger than I would have imagined. The hoppiness attacks the tongue and spreads throughout the mouth. It almost as if it flavor hits the front of the tongue then splits and flanks the back of the tongue by way of the cheeks. The deep, malty, nut flavor has a spiciness that accentuates the intense hop burn. The aftertaste is both metallic and smooth. This beer is well balanced and very satisfying. I really like this beer and highly recommend it.
