Beamish Irish Stout

Beamish Irish StoutThirdly, we have a lesser known brew – the Beamish Irish Stout.

I tell ya’, the difference in these Stouts is so subtle, it can be different to describe.  The Beamish pours almost identical to the other two, although the head on this one seems more dense and is noticeably smoother in consistency.  The aroma is again malty and subdued.  The flavor of this one is quite smooth, and doesn’t hit you at the back of the mouth like the Murphy’s.  However, it does exhibit a greater presence of coffee-like flavors on the tongue, and ends with a slight nutty flavor.  Personally, this is my favorite of the three Stouts tasted.  It is remarkably smooth and creamy, but the coffee flavor gives it a nice edge.  This is probably the one that I’ll reach for in the future.  -Ben

The Beamish is terrific beer, and again, this is a new beverage to me.  I thoroughly enjoyed the Beamish.  It has more coffee flavor to it than the previous Irish stouts.  It is exceptionally smooth and creamy and goes down very easily.  Like the others, there is a fairly subtle mouthfeel and little aftertaste.  The Beamish goes down wonderfully, and I would place it a hair above the Murphy’s, and perhaps equal to the Guinness.  -Jon
